BYU Facilities Planning Department
Work Order ProceduresWhat is a work order?A work order is a form you fill out to help the Facilities Planning Department staff assess your needs, and initiate the process to get your project started. The work order form contains information that will help you describe, in brief and simple terms, the work that you would like done (includes ordering furniture). How do I initiate a work order and who needs to authorize it?Each college has a representative that coordinates and prioritizes all projects within that college. You can go on-line to fill out and print a work order form at the Physical Facilities web site (on-line work order form). The form then needs to be authorized and signed by your respective college representative, and submitted to Physical Facilities. If you have any questions about initiating a work order, please contact your college representative or Curt Jolley at 422-5555.What happens once Physical Facilities has received my work order?Physical Facilities enters the request into a work order number system, and assigns the project to a project administrator. The Project Administrator serves as a contact between Physical Facilities and the campus community to expedite inquiries and provide current and up-to-date status information on projects. This individual works closely with the college representatives to maintain harmony between Physical Facilities and campus clientele and the college representative is notified each time the work order status is changed. The project coordinator assigns work to the interior designers, architects and engineers as needed. These professionals will contact you and work with you to complete their preliminary design work and cost estimates. Once the preliminary design and cost estimates are approved, then more design may be required to meet industry standards and specifications. After the design phase the work can then be assigned to the contractors, craftsman and laborers as needed and work is then authorized to begin. If you have any further questions please click on the Physical Facilities link to your left |
